How Pilates can help your team move well and work well

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of low impact exercise that builds strength, flexibility and body awareness through slow, controlled movement. It focuses on the deep core muscles that support your spine, along with posture, breathing and balance, so your body works the way it was designed to.

You don't need any special equipment, a change of clothes or a shower afterwards. Sessions can be done on a mat, in a chair or standing at a desk, and every exercise can be adjusted to suit each person, whatever their age, fitness level or experience.

For teams, the benefits show up where it matters most. Regular Pilates helps ease the aches and stiffness that come from long hours sitting, improves posture and mobility, and supports back, neck and shoulder health. Just as importantly, the focus on breathing and mindful movement helps people release tension, reset and feel more like themselves.

The result is a healthier, more energised team that feels better at work and at home.

Move Well, Work Well: A Workplace Wellbeing Workshop

Long hours at a desk, tight deadlines and constant screen time take a toll on the body and the mind. This practical, interactive workshop gives your team simple tools to feel better at work, without leaving the workplace or needing any special equipment.

What we'll cover

  • Posture and desk set up: how to sit, stand and move in ways that ease strain on the back, neck and shoulders

  • Move and release: easy Pilates based stretches and exercises that can be done at a desk or in a chair

  • Breathing and reset: quick techniques to release tension, calm stress and refocus during a busy day

  • Healthy habits: realistic ways to build more movement into the working day

What your team will take away

Each person leaves with a handful of simple exercises they can use straight away, a better understanding of what their body needs, and the confidence to look after themselves at work.

Who it's for

Teams of any size and any fitness level. No experience is needed, and everything can be adapted to suit different abilities, including people managing long term health conditions.

Why choose this workshop

I'm a former Senior Nurse Specialist with a degree in Business Management and Leadership, plus qualifications in Pilates, yoga and exercise referral. I understand first hand what workplace pressure does to people and teams, so every session is practical, realistic and tailored to your organisation.

What Does the Research Say ?

A recent review of studies looking at Pilates for employees found that it may reduce pain and disability in people with long term neck or lower back pain. It also pointed to possible benefits for stress and wellbeing at work.

NICE guidelines recommend exercise as a first step for lower back pain, and Pilates is a gentle, effective way to build strength and confidence in your body. The evidence doesn’t show it beats other types of exercise, but it does show that moving regularly helps, and the best exercise is the one you’ll actually enjoy and stick with.

The evidence is encouraging rather than a guarantee, but it backs up what I see in my classes every week: when people learn to move well, they tend to feel better, sit taller and cope better with a busy working day.
